Something as simple as a fingerprint could really comprar esteroides en portugal make a diamond look dull. Lotion, soaps, and everyday dust and dirt are just a few things that can clog jewelry settings and make stones appear dull and lifeless. And it’s usually not until you’re getting ready for a night out on the town that you notice your rings, necklaces and bracelets need some attention.  To safe the night and have your diamonds looking it’s best you can clean your diamond jewelry right at home in ten minutes with a warm water & few drops of dish detergent, here is how:

  • Let the piece sit in the solution for a few minutes, longer if it’s very dirty, then gently scrub with a new, baby-size, soft toothbrush (especially the underside where most of the gunk sticks around).
  • To rinse, place the item in a new container of lukewarm water to ensure all the soap is taken off your diamond jewelry. Please remember, to block your drain!! We don’t want you dropping your jewelry down it and have to call a plumber to fish out your treasures.
  • To dry your diamond jewelry– use a lint free cloth (like the kind you would use on your sunglasses) to get the excess water off.
  • Enjoy your clean and beautiful piece!

Try not to touch the stones with your fingers, as the oils on your skin will stick onto the diamond’s surface, and you’ll need another clean.  Skip the DIY cleaning entirely if your gem isn’t red, white or blue. (That’s rubies, diamonds and sapphires.) Many other gemstones have fickle properties that require specific care.

Visiting Your Jeweler

While dish detergent and warm water is the best homemade jewelry cleaner, there’s no substitute for visiting your jeweler for a cleaning. When you are at a jeweler, a typical cleaning includes an initial inspection to make sure all gemstones are present and tightly secured in place. During the cleaning, your diamond jewelry will get soaked in a professional cleaning solution then put in an ultrasonic cleaner where all dirt and grease are vibrated free of the ring. The final step is a steam cleaning to make your stones shine like new!  Professional cleanings are recommended as frequently as ones a year, depending on how often you wear your jewelry. Special pieces, such as engagement rings, wedding bands and antique jewelry should be brought to a professional every six month. Not only does this keep jewelry looking its best, it is also a good opportunity to check for loose stones and any wear or damage that should be addressed. Would you like to have a jewelry spa day on us?
